Decade Summary: By the 2010s, the Kobe dynasty and the Celtics' semi-dynasty of the late 2000s had come to a close, but the Spurs one lived on. Still it was time for a new dynasty to be born, and that came in the form of the "Big Three" in Miami, which began in 2010 when LeBron James, the best player in the league and a four-time MVP, "took his talents to South Beach." There, he joined Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh (coming from Toronto), who rounded out the Big Three, and later Ray Allen (came from the shambled Celtics dynasty). Despite losing in their first year together to the Dallas Mavericks, the Heat went on to make it to four titles in all four years of the Big Three, winning two of them. Their biggest competition was the aging Spurs dynasty, who looked anything but old, and the two rival teams split the two finals in 2013 and 2014, with Ray Allen hitting a huge three-pointer that allowed Miami to come back and win in 2013. After the finals loss in 2014, LeBron left Miami to return back to Cleveland, and it's unclear what the next dynasty will be. A likely candidate could be the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team Miami beat in the 2012 finals, who boast two of the best players in the league in 2014 MVP Kevin Durant as well as Russell Westbrook, though both players have been ravaged by injuries over the past couple of years. We will have to wait and see what the future holds.
